(I didn’t want to hijaak Leah’s thread for MD, so I started one here.)
Hey MJ…what part of Middle TN? I’m in West TN, but I go to the
Nashville, Dickson, Murfreesboro areas quite frequently. There’s
several families in my little corner that use the CM method. We try to
get together as often as we can. If I remember correctly, there’s a
large group in the Nashville area.
We’re in a little town that’s about 25 minutes south of Murfreesboro. It’s a little over an hour to Nashville for us. If I may ask, how did you go about finding other families “in your little corner” ? Sometimes we feel pretty isolated, which at times is a good thing, but not ALL the time!!! If you know what I mean.
I’m in Huntsville in northern AL if anyone is in my neck of the woods.
Hey, I go to Huntsville a few times a year, too! My in-laws live in Florence, but we go to Huntsville to “shop” or visit some of the kids museums. Lots of fun things to do there.
How did I find CM’ers? Well, I actually posted on the AO forum looking for them, much like Leah did here. One immediately replied and it was so funny when we found out we lived a couple of miles from each other. AND we went to church together!!! The other families are in a local homeschool group I was in. I just asked if anyone had heard of CM. It was pretty quiet in the meeting, but afterward several mom’s said they were exploring the options. Now, they are 100% CM and we have new mom’s asking questions more and more frequently. Somehow, through all of our connections, forums, etc., we seem to find each other!
That’s funny that you were at the same church! I was wondering what AO forum you posted on, or was it a Yahoo group? I went to the AO site and was overwhelmed and confused by all the Yahoo groups that were listed. I also found it frustrating that I couldn’t read anything without joining a particular group first. Was I doing something wrong or looking in the wrong place?araynaudParticipant
We are in Franklin and are starting our homeschooling journey this year… Very excited to implement a CM approach as I have been wanting to homeschool for quite sometime but as a former educator was a bit overwhelmed with how to approach it. I love the simplicity and creativity of it all! If there is a group in Nashville, I am hoping I will be led to them…
I’m not sure if I can post the AO Yahoo links here (sorry, it WAS a Yahoo group, not a forum), but it was the more “rambling” one if that helps. They have dozens of groups started by helpful users, but this was one of the 2 main groups started and maintained by AO themselves.
Angela: I’ll see if I can locate the Nashville information. I was in contact with a lady up there for quite some time about their group. The mom’s met monthly for tea. I did a major spring cleaning and “purge” this year and I have a hard time finding things now.leahParticipant
Thanks for clarifying the Yahoo group thing! Still hoping to connect with people in my area, but I am certainly finding this forum very helpful and loving it!!!CandaceCParticipant
Well, I’m east of Knoxville, but looks like all of you are mostly west! Bummer! 🙂kimofthesavagesParticipant
I am in the Memphis area. I don’t know anyone else who uses CM. I’d love to find some though! Tonni, are you near Memphis?Kim McMember
I’m new to SCM. I’m near Nashville. I see that these posts are older. Any other CM peeps around?
I’m in upper East TN, not close to you but I think some of these ladies are still here.Jodie AppleParticipant
Hi Kim. We are in Bell Buckle, a little more than an hour south of Nashville. My husbands parents live in Nashville, which is where he grew up. Welcome to the best CM site there is (in my humble opinion ).
Oh, I hope I get to see some of you in March when we have the 2-day SCM Conference in Nashville! Woohoo!mrsselbyMember
Kim S, I’m in Memphis! My boys are just now reaching school age, but I’ve heard that CMers are hard to find here! We are in Midtown. Where are you guys?
