Someone (Becca?) mentioned that Story of the World is on CD. You can definitely utilize that resource, though I would also encourage you to have the book so that your sons could follow along (especially helpful for a child that is visual rather than auditory).

As far as the SCM guides, they cover Bible/History which in my mind and especially in the first 3 books definitely go together historically speaking, at least for the most part.  However, it also covers geography as well.

I didn’t read all of these posts but to encourage you to keep at it:

I work a 40 hour a week job plus homeschool my children; 9,7,6,and 4.  But, I made sure I got a second shift job so that I could teach in the morning because thats when all of our minds are the freshest! I don’t know if that would be a possibility for you or not?

I love research so I always have everything planned out way in advance, but before I did, I felt so far behind and like I was failing my children but what I did was dropped science for the rest of the school year (last year) and we did a huge astronomy unit study all summer.  It worked out really well as I wasn’t trying to fit it all in in the mornings and the summer sky was great for star gazing.  (we even had a star party). That being said, do what works for you.  If you can’t do history because you can’t find the time, then wait until summer.  I met a lady who was working and hs three children and she said she only did history every other year.  It’s a possiblitiy.  ALso when I have a dentist appointment and a funeral like we do this week we are only having three days of school but I try not to stress about it.  THey are still learning and we read and they have seperate reading they must do even when there is no school.

    Hope this helps some!
