I often read that the child should be watched over while doing their handwriting/copywork/transcription.  I find this to be a bit of a challenge when I have two children going at the same time.  I’ve realized that the logical solution is to have them do their lessons at different times.  However, I am curious as to how CM was able to do this in a classroom setting with several children?

Maybe she had small class rooms or teacher assistants? 🙂

I thought that as well.  If not assistants, how would she be able to catch the mistakes?

I don’t know the answer– but I do know (from experience) that children do have to be monitored while doing their handwriting work — at least during the learning stage (mine are in 4th, 2nd, and K grades).  My girls are very inventive with their handwritng and once they get in the habit of doing it incorrectly, it’s HARD to teach them the right way.

Thank you Karen for confirming that important detail!Wink  So, I’ll continue as I have been…the hard way, lol!
