I was hoping to have some news to post here, but Oxford hasn’t returned my call. I’ll keep trying.

Thank you. I will continue to look. You pick lovely books, even though they are hard to find sometimes. I like the hunt. :o)

The latest news, as of last week, is that they are transferring our inquiry to their office in the UK.

I found a copy a couple of days after I posted last here.  It’s in okay condition, but i am very interested if you all are able to republish it, especially in e-book format.  Wink Thanks for the update!

Well I have not been able to find it for a reasonable price.  I have requested it from my library via ILL.  We shall see.  I even called Oxford in an effort to help SCM.  We shall see!

There was a thread here that stated another book under a similar title was exactly the same “save one page extra in chapter one”. I thought I was on the right path purchasing said book from a place called Book Depository (.co.uk or .com) as I buy nearly all my books from said place after learning they ship to me for FREE 😀

After reading the recent posts here I was unsure as I now see the title is more specific to the Greece & Rome eras. That said I followed their links for Abe Books and found a copy of the Egyptian title for as little as $3 something or other. Even with expidited shipping it was just under $12. Have you considered looking through Book D? You can get the one book there for $24 (no shipping fee even if you live in America) and then follow the links for Abe Books on the other.. It’s not perfect, of course, but it suffices!

Unfortunately, the library wasn’t an option for me as they don’t have the title. Boo-Hoo.

I’ve just double checked and Abe Books has several of Vol. 1 up for sale for as little as .69 and as much as a few dollars plus shipping out of the UK!

I am having a hard time finding the Rome and Greece on Abe books, but I think I found the Egypt one, which is what I need first.  For a total of $4, I’ll try it.  Thanks.  I am still interested in the original collection at a reasonable price.

I too am having a tough go, but do have a question.  On my bookshelf I have the Kingfisher History Encyclopedia, can I use that one instead?  Still trying to learn what is CM friendly and what is not 🙂

The things that we like about the Oxford book are its wonderful illustrations and its inclusion of conversational text for many of the chapters. It gives a great feel of everyday life in the ancient civilizations. You might want to take a look at its Preview on Amazon to see how it compares to other books you might have. It looks like they have many pages available for preview there.

I have the Kingfisher as well, and have to say the Oxford is far superior and very CM friendly in comparison – we love the Oxford – I have had the book for years got it in England many moons ago – and I am so glad I did – I like it so much it is one of the few books I am not parting with from earlier years of school.  It really is a gem and I hope they let Sonya republish, or that they republish themselves.  Linda
