We are using Visits to North America and I’m a little confused about how Central America fits it. Is it not part of North America?

I googled it and Wikipedia says it is — not that Wikipedia is the end all be all of factual information, but it seems to me that North America would end at the southern border of Panama.

From World Book (2008 edition): “Central America is the narrow bridge of land at the southern end of North America.”

    Okay, as I thought. Thanks.

I wonder why SCM groups it with South America then in the ‘Visits to…’ series?

Great question, Heather. For some reason my mind always combines South and Central America; I don’t know why. 🙂

One of the reasons it’s grouped that way in the Visits to . . . series is because I thought we would need the better part of a year to learn the 50 United States. So it seemed to work out well to divide it the way it is. But now that you guys have pointed out that Central America is officially part of North America, I feel a bit sheepish. Sorry for the confusion.
