Does anyone’s DD have a subscription to this?  It’s Focus on the Family’s new magazine for teen girls.  My 12 yo wants it but I’m concerned that some of the topics might be a bit too mature for her and possibly encourage her to think about things she isn’t yet thinking about (namely boys).  Would love some input on this if anyone is familiar with the magazine.

My kids have LOVED this magazine.  I haven’t read a ton of it, but my oldest started it about 10 years ago, so she was probably 12 or 13, and she has highly recommended it for all her younger sisters, even buying it for them for a year or two when they otherwise wouldn’t have gotten it.    (There was a time in the middle when it didn’t exist, and she was super bummed about that.)

We have it for my 13 yo. I have to say that I’m a little disappointed in it.  One issue had a boy on the cover, and what made it seem so bad is that we couldn’t tell whether it was a boy or girl. I just think that with all the gender confusion out there Focus on the Family ought to be more unambiguous. And then, I’m also not sure I want my dd gettting a magazine with a boy on the cover. I think they should stick to girls for a girls magazine.

The articles inside have all been fine…..some have been interviews and the answers given seemed rather shallow (the Christian  singers they’ve interviewed seem shallow).

If none of that bothers you, your family might enjoy it just fine.  On the whole, it’s an affordable, 3/5 stars magazine for my dd. I would like to look into some replacement magazines for our dd, but they all seem so expensive or only have 4 issues per year.

We get world magazine. I know they have kids and teen versions. Have you looked into those?
