In thinking through and planning for next year, we need a new French program for dd13. On Bookworm Michelle’s recommendation I looked at the Breaking the Barrier program and downloaded the iBook textbook sample. This is one amazing resource with embedded audio and exercises. It is marketed a a full replacement for the printed book and cds and from my perusal I’d say that is true. However, I will likely have dd write a bit to help cement the info. The iBook text doesn’t include the teacher book, tests, or answer keys. I’m looking at the options for those. However the student iBook text is only $14.99! This is worth it to me even as a supplement. It is wonderfully interactive.

Are you using this in place of the “Speaking with Miss Mason” series? I thought you were using that. I need to look at samples still but it looks good from a quick read of the program. I know it states Beginner stage but did you see an age level at all?

I am using Speaking Spanish with Miss Mason and François with all my kids and my CM co-op. DD13 began French last year and wishes to continue. I may add the Speaking French with Miss Mason and François for extra practice, but it isn’t enough on it’s own for a language credit and we need it to count for credit for her.

Not to mention that I am completely incapable of pronouncing French. I’ve tried it in the past and I stink. I can speak German though nowhere near fluently and feel capable of learning Spanish, but French not so much. And dd13 has a passion for it.
