I am brand new to Charlotte Mason and her theory on schooling.  (a very sweet friend introduced me) I have read a couple of books and articles and really believe this is the approach I need to take in homeschooling my children.  I have a 2 yr old, a 3rd grade ALL boy and a 4th grade girl who LOVES to learn.  This is my second year homeschooling and I have tried more curriculum than I care to tell you about. 🙂  I am currently doing a whole gamet of things, but would like to start schooling CM style.  I just don’t have a clue where to start.  I read the getting started, but that doesn’t tell me specifics.  I feel I should ease into it and want to start with Science and History.  I just do not have a clue as to what to buy or do for these subjects.  Can anyone make a suggestion for me?  I have searched the site and just can’t find anything.  Thank you in advance for any help you can give me!

Just wanted to share this link with you. It is a series that is on the Simply Charlotte Mason blog. The bottom of the page lists all 5 parts of the series. It is very helpful.

I, too, read through all of the “getting started” links on the site when I started using CM methods, and they were very helpful. The SCM Curriculum Guide was great for someone like me who likes lists, organization, and so forth. One thing to be careful about….be sure you keep reminding yourself that the book recommendations are just a guideline. Don’t feel like you have to read every single book listed for your children’s grade levels for history, science, or any subject. If your family needs to cut something out or add something in, go ahead. There are no “CM Police” here, just friendly advice and listening ears!

    Blessings,

    Sue

Welcome!Smile I am sure you will find a lot of help here to get you on the right track. The free guide was a life saver when I started, also Sonya’s “All Day CM Seminar” and “Planning your CM education”.

Welcome!  Yes, the “Planning Your CM Education” is a huge help for me to make sure my bases are covered, print out weekly and daily schedules, etc.  Blessings as you begin!  Gina
