    Hi,

I am trying to jump into using the Early Modern Guide but I am at a loss since my boys have read two of the books listed:  Carry On Mr. Bowditch and Ocean Of Truth (Isaac Newton).  I figure I can either skip these lessons or find alternative books.  In our other curriculum, we just finished the French and Indian War and we are going to jump in at lesson 87.

Any suggestions?  They read at a strong middle school/early high school level so I am going to go between the 4-6 and 7-9 book choices.

I would also love to hear from others using the modules since I am really nervous about using it.  I have been so entrenched in history curriculums for years and now I am trying to step back and slow down.  Well…..I HAVE to step back due to chronic pain so God is trying to teach me how to slow down!!  Such a difficult lesson!

    thanks

No suggestions but I just wanted to wish you all the best with starting the Early Modern Guide.

Hope someone else can help with the book suggestions.

    Hi pj,

Depending on the years you are looking for, some choices might be:  Amos Fortune, Free Man, The Witch of Blackbird Pond and/or, Johnny Tremain.

    All my best,

    Richele

Oops, sorry that I wasn’t more attentive to the fact that you are up to the French and Indian War. Your boys might find Johnny Tremain enjoyable then.

    Be in health,

    Richele
