Book suggestions for 10 yr old girl

I’m needing some help with book suggestions for my 10 yr old daughter. She is not a strong reader, but enjoys stories about people (not so much animals) that are exciting or funny. Some of her personal interests are trains and horses. She has recently read through the In Gramdma’s Attic series and has really enjoyed those.

Hi Annie! My daughter enjoyed the Grandma’s Attic series as well. Here are some other books she enjoyed around that age that are on a similar reading level:

Hitty: Her First 100 Years-Rachel Field? It seems like it was Rachel something or other but I may be wrong on the last name.
The American Girl books that are historic-not so much the modern ones.

Nim’s Island
I just remembered a favorite author-Lois Lenski. She wrote a lot of historical fiction that was based on different regions in the U.S. We really enjoyed reading through her books.

My daughter adores Kate Seredy books – her favorites being The Good Master and The Singing Tree. She also loves the All-of-a-Kind Family series.
Thank you, Laura! Those Kate Seredy books look like something she would like a lot. And you reminded me that I have a couple of the All-of-a-Kind Family books; I’ll take them down for her to look through.

My daughter 9 really likes the Boxcar Children, Little House on the Prairie series, and the Indian in the Cupboard books.
Thank you, Inosborn! I think she might really like the Boxcar Children books especially. She has listened to the whole Little House series on audiobook a few times, while reading along in the book; a favorite!

All of a Kind family is another favorite here as well.
Also Eleanor Estes books and I’ve heard good things about Enid Blyton.

Classic, Older, Living book!
We listened to the audio on the way to church and FELL IN LOVE with this story. It teaches such great character and morals and is a fabulous book! It kept my 3rd grader engaged, all the way through my husband and myself. it does start out with you feeling awful for her as she starts out with a difficult life. But you will see heart strength in the Lord and her trust in Him, guide her actions! Now, I want to read it again! 🙂
My 5th grade daughter loved it so much, she wants me to buy her the Elsie Dinsmore Doll! Then, my 6th grader, just read 6 Elsie Dinsmore books in a month!
