I came across two series at our library that have really encouraged my 8-almost 9 yo beginning reader. One is We Both Read. There are silly stories in this series, but the ones we like have to do with nature: About the Ocean, About Bugs, About the Rain Forest, are just a few. webothread.com.

Another series is Extreme Readers. These are nature stories as well.

This has encouraged my son because he really notices (and feels) the babyish-ness of the books that are on his reading level. The content is more ‘grown up.’

    Blessings,

You might look at Christian Liberty Press nature readers. They are wonderful and educational at that!!!

Thank you for sharing these ideas. My 8 yo and 9 yo are later readers and I have a hard time finding things for them to read that are not ridiculously immature for them.
