Biomes of North America Series

Is anyone familiar with the Biomes of North America series of books by Rebecca Johnson. Some of the titles are A Walk in the Forest, A Walk in the Desert, A Walk in the Tundra, etc. I am looking at getting them, but would like to hear from someone who has read them before I spend the money. What I am wondering specifically is do they talk about things from an evolutionary perspective at all?
