Ok I do paperback swap.  But with the new rules and the fact I have more books posted then ever go out I’d like to find a better way to part with my books.  I want them to get used, I need the space.  What do you guys do?  Donate is the 1st thought but some of them are perfect?!  Thoughts on what you do with your books when you are downsizing?

2nd and Charles is a second-hand store that takes everything but clothes and housewares.  I’ve sold some of my books back there and gotten what seems like pittance, but it was a better option than taking them to Goodwill (although a fair number of my books end up there).

I’ve also blessed members of our homeschool group with books I don’t need/want.  The trouble with that is that if I’m objecting to content, probably they are too, as we all think along about the same lines when it comes to that.

I think MelissaB uses a homeschool classified site – I don’t know much about that, maybe she’ll chime in.

Watch the posts you read on this forum.  You may see a way to bless another family.  I have done this before and politely asked to be reimbursed for shipping.  It makes me happy to be able to pass along something we are no longer using to someone who will appreciate it.  I appreciate being reimbursed for the shipping so I don’t feel like I’m losing money.  😉

There is a Facebook group called Homeschool Curriculum Free For Shipping.  Whoever the book is being sent to pays the shipping cost.  I keep meaning to post some books there, but I’ve been busy.  We moved last month, and I had some books I didn’t want just sitting at the thrift store waiting for a homeschooler to pass by.  😉

What is the organization that gets books and curriculum to homeschool families in need?  Book Samaritan?  Or something like that…  I’ve sent things to them before.

I would have PM’d you but I don’t know how ugh! – have you tried Scout and Morgan in Cambridge?

Generally, I sell them on ebay. I never list full price, even if the books look like they’ve never been touched. I generally sell all of my homeschooling teacher’s books in a hurry. If the books are in poor shape, it may take longer, but someone will usually pick them up. The only drawback is the fees. We also donate. It really depends on whether I want the hassle of packing & shipping. 🙂

Thanks for all the idea’s.  I go in Scout and Morgan often and the coop weekly, so funny that the places we frequent we also forget about.  I will contact them.

    Thanks everyone!
