    4byGrace,

I think you should listen to this friend and your children. It sounds like they probably have your best interests at heart. If your finances are anything like ours, you don’t want to buy a curriculum that won’t work. Maybe instead of avoiding your friend, you could arrange to get together with her and talk out all the options you’re considering, why you’re considering them and what you like/dislike about them. She may be able to help you find a solution that is pleasing to you and really works : ).

I know I probably need to do the same and talk to my friend that know me well. I have some of my stuff picked out for next year but am feeling panic-y.

Have you had a crazy year this year? Maybe that’s why it seems there are many interruptions. We sure have had a crazy year with many health issues in our youngest. BUT I have found that God guided our year better than I could have for all my plans. We have accomplished more than I thought possible. My children learned an awful lot-some that I had planned and some I didn’t. Either way, I would say we had a good year. I’m guessing if you really look at things you’d say you have done pretty well too.

I also use the flylady site to keep my house and life in order.  My kids know what to expect each day from the calendar and what chores we will be doing.  They have a student journal to show them their chores and responsibilities each day.

As far as your husband I think you did the right thing.  I think that sets a great example to your children of how important he is and what his role is.  We always stop for Daddy.

Sometimes things come by like the rocks and seeing them be dumped, snow plows, fire trucks and so on.  Part of the joy of being a homeschool mom is to stop and enjoy life with the kids.  There is so much they can learn from life.

I try to avoid the computer during school time so that I can focus on them.  Just remember to relax and enjoy these wonderful years that God has given us with these precious children

Also, as for clutter I agree the less the better.  It is easier to clean a house as well as learn in one with less things and clutter.

I will remember you all in my prayers as I hope you will continue to pray for my family as well.  Satan is definately working hard to destroy the family especially close ones like homeschool families are.
