Next weekend I will be getting 4 large bookshelves to line one wall of our decent sized but hardly used entryway. (Woo Hoo!!!) It’s going to be our little home library area and the kids are very excited. I’ve been looking up tutorials for making oversized bean bag chairs this morning and will probably buy a nice long rug to stretch from the front door along the front of the bookshelves. There is also a bit of wall space between the front door and the closet and I would like to hang a print of some kind up there. We took one of our Audubon prints from last year and hung it in our dining room and I love it! I was hoping I could find some kind of print or picture that would be at home in our library space as well. Maybe something with children reading, or maybe something more nature focused, or maybe an old map, or ??? Would any of you like to help me find something? 🙂
MountainMammaParticipantWiki Commons has a wealth of wonderful images that you can print. There are neat botany illustrations, old photographs, etc. Here’s a group of images from the 16th century, for example:

Hope that helps!
LindseyDParticipantWhat about framing the pictures from one of SCM’s picture study portfolios and arranging them in a sort of gallery wall? We always tack our pictures to the wall after we’re finished with that study. It’s made our schoolroom very bright and homey and the children often stand and look at them when they’re up here.
I’m thinking something like this: http://www.pinterest.com/pin/230528074648237288/
Or this: http://www.pinterest.com/pin/230528074647299690/ (Gallery wall in the background.)
Mix in different colors, sizes, and textures of frames that have other prints, scriptures, quotes, or photos in them for interest.
Alicia HartParticipantHow nice! I never really thought of using the SCM pictures for art work to frame and put on your walls. Love this idea.
Love the collage look too!
eawernerParticipantMountainMamma! They have a whole page “reading in art” 🙂 So many nice prints.
LindseyD – I have a similar pin for my living room wall… someday. I was thinking I only had room for one mid to large print (it’s maybe 3 ft of wall across) but if I go up and down and in collage style, and I may have some extra smaller frames around here…
thinking…
Keep up the suggestions please!
MountainMammaParticipant@eawerner: That’s a great search query! I love this one:

It’s funny – if you changed the clothing, that 19th century family would look just like mine! 🙂
