Has anyone used this? Do you think it is an added benefit to the curiculum or really not needed? Thanks!

I’ve bought the student notebook to go with general science this next year. I think it will be a tremendous benefit to my dd to have things laid out so simply.

I bought the physical note booking journal for my ds. I think it will be a great benefit as well. It will be so helpful to have the study guide questions preprinted, lab sheets ready to go, and just more to work with than a binder. That’s my hope anyway.

Now we just need all the lab supplies and were ready!

I was wondering if the Notebook could be used for the 1st edition? There aren’t any concrete changes to the materials from 1st to 2nd.

    What do ya’ll think?

I don’t see why not.  I have both 1st and 2nd edition texts and I plan to look through them to see if I can use the journal with the 2nd edition.  The notebooking journal I purchased is for the 1st edition, but while I was at a curriculum swap awhile ago I found a 2nd edition for $1.  Can you believe that?!  I picked it up and plan to use it, I think, instead of the 1st edition I found for $5 at a used book store.  I’m hoping I can borrow the tests/solutions book from a friend and purchase the DIVE cd or something.

I bought the 1st edition notebooking journal from Christian Book…oh, what’s it called??  It was $8.99 for the download.  I now have to print it all, but that’s okay, I have a lot to print for this year (Geography notebooks from SCM 🙂

I didn’t know there was a notebooking journal for the 1st ed. I saw the lapbooking materials, but not a journal.

Could you please link me to it when you can?

Let me know if this works…this is the one I purchased.  I still have to print it out, which is going to be a lot, but I may skip a page or two.  My ds is not into lapbooking, but this is more like a journal with preprinted pages with the study guide questions already on the page and some pages used for studying, etc.  I haven’t printed it so I’m just going by what I have seen so far in the download.

I can look at it more in detail if you’d like to give you a better idea, if that helps.

Thanks, that helps. My son wouldn’t be interested, but when my dd gets to it (in two yrs.) this would be enjoyable for her – she’s the artistic, hands-on child.

    Thanks!

My ds isn’t interested in lapbook type projects, either, (actually he’d rather pull his hair out one by one). But this last year we only used binder paper and he wrote out the answers to the On Your Own questions, etc., but didn’t write out the questions so he had to go back and forth to find the question when it was time to study.  Plus, I did a poor job on making sure he had enough lab sheets, etc.  There is a touch of what looks like “lapbooking” pages and he will probably skip those unless he finds them useful, but he won’t be making a “lapbook” out of them.  He may just write in the space given and use them to study with.  He is not the artsy type, either, but I needed something for him that looks a bit more like a workbook to go along with the text.

And, I needed something that would be in one binder, by itself, that looks like it’s suppose to be there to keep him from taking them out as he’s cleaning his binderYell. In the end, it looked as if he hadn’t done anything.  I don’t want that happening again this year.

Sounds like a good plan and makes sense.
