I would really like to have history in a 4 year rotation. I saw that TOG has that. I’m not sure that I want to spend the money on it but I could maybe use some of their booklist selections.??  Anyone done this?

I’m not sure if I understand your question.  Are you hoping that the booklist from TOG will help you in planning a four year history rotation?  I tried using TOG for awhile, but found it to be very overwhelming, and my children and I didn’t especially enjoy their book selections, so I’m probably not the best one to give you advice on this.

The wonderful thing about the CMO is that you can take any stack of books and plug it in there! You just decide what order you want to read them in and schedule them one after the other or some of them to be read at the same time.  Then it will help you to keep on your schedule by telling you what to read next.  : )   I have really enjoyed using the CMO this year, it has made my life much simpler.

When I was searching out history curricula (mostly the first two years to start with) and what living books seemed to be the most popular I looked at many different companies.  SCM, Heart of Dakota, Veritas Press, TOG, Beautiful Feet Books, Sonlight, Greenleaf Press, maybe more even? I checked out every book that I could get from my library. (They know me very well now!) There are some that come up over and over again in many of the curricula and I did find those to be the best books for the various time periods.  TOG did have many of these wonderful books but they also had many other books that were just so-so IMO.  Especially if you are considering doing the Ancients in one year, I would pick out fewer of the best books available to read.

Thank you.  I had an epiphay last night while *trying* to go to sleep. LOL  That I didn’t really need to follow any certain guide!  It seems overwhelming but surely by 3 years from now I would be able to get things lined up enough. I was thinking along the same lines as you eawerner, that I could pick some of the books that seem to be in most of the booklists out there.
