  • Since my kids are still pretty young I was thinking of using some Amanda Bennett unit studies this coming year instead of jumping into SCM modules, MFW or something more formal.

Anyone used any of her units or have any thoughts or comments pro or con? Does she include good literature and living book suggestions in with the units?

We’ve used them.. The first time I had one I wasn’t at all keen on it, but then my children were only 5 and 7. Since then we’ve used several of her studies.  She has plenty of book ideas to use with the study but you don’t need any of them in order to use the study itself.

She provides topics for you to investigate and links to do so. She has copywork suggested for each day and vocabulary words. If you are interested in notebooking pages or lapbooking pages you can check around for that a few people have made them and share them for free!

We are finishing up a four week unit study by Amanda Bennett called Gardens. Choose it mostly because we are putting in a big garden and thought this would go along nicely. In the past we also did her unit study about horses. As the above post mentioned included in the unit studies are: copywork, vocabulary words, links for further research, book suggestions, and so much more. All in all I would say we have enjoyed the unit study. I also added some hands on activities about flowers and some experiments.

    Blessings
