Just curious if anyone here uses this and what you think of it? Will it have them adequately prepared for algebra?
RobinPParticipantWe use it. Love, love it. After way too many years of trying different math programs, this is by far our most favorite. I guess we’ll find out about algebra when we get there. I feel we’re behind because we’ve wasted so much time jumping around. But my 12’s math readiness has skyrocketed since finding S/U so hopefully he’ll sail right into it.
2Corin57ParticipantThank you! Is it the only math program you use now? How many pages do you do a day?
RobinPParticipantYes it’s all we use. The number of pages depends on the topic. My 12yo may do anywhere from 1-3. My almost 12yo (adopted from China 6years ago) usually only does 1. Also I almost never have them do all the problems on a page, with the exception of word problems.. Sometimes there are LOTS. If they get it, we move on. If they struggle, there’s lots of practice problems available. I love the no frills simplicity. So do they.
2Corin57ParticipantWhat ages/grades did you start them with it? My son is 8/grade 3. We’re currently using CLE, but we just need a different approach. I’m considering a “math break” for the rest of the year (just doing games, living math etc… in the interim). But would 9/grade 4, be too late to start book 1? I’m assuming we could work faster through the stuff he already knows.
RobinPParticipantWe actually started when my boys were grades 4 and 5. We started in book 1 but further over because the first several sections are very basic. Yes, it’s easy to work through quickly.
