    Our Early Years Schedule:

    http://www.scribd.com/full/47783632?access_key=key-deycv7768wyzn22vq5f

Here is a “schedule” that I put together for use with my two preschool aged children.  I put “schedule” in quotation becaues really this is just a light list of things to do on days when I could use some inspiration and guidance.  (Because who can stand watching another episode of Barney?!  Am I right?)  🙂

I won’t be following this “schedule” rigidly.  In fact, on many days I predict l will probably be throwing this out the window and just going with the flow as opportunities present themselves. My hope with putting this together will be that it gives me some ideas on how to gently add in some structure on days that I seem to need more.

Since I didn’t explain it, on the schedule our “Scripture Memory” involves singing together one of the songs from the CD “Songs for Saplings”.  Our “Litterature” will be reading aloud together on the couch or outside when the weather is better.  (We use a mixture of the books from SCM, Ambleside online, FIAR, and Sonlight P3/P4.)  Our “Language arts” basically involves just playing with the various pre-k manipulatives from the company handwritting without tears.  (We don’t use the workbook yet.)  Just play with the wooden blocks to build letters, roll-a-dough letters, stamp-n-see screen.  )

If you have any feedback, I would love to hear it.  (Is it missing something?  Too much?  Etc. Etc.)

I can’t really say if it’s too light or not, since I’m still trying to figure out what to do for preschool myself. Just wondering what types of board games you have for Fridays. All I can think of for that age group (that I would want my dc to have) is Memory, Chutes and Ladders, and Candyland.

Nerakr, We have just started to accumulate some games for our family board game night.  We have the standard Chutes and Laddres and Memory.  We also have Teddy Mix and Match, Mighty Mind, Animal Dominos, and a Fishing for Numbers game.  We also have a Go Fish card game too with letters.  (You have to match the lower case and capital letters.) I also print out bingo games from time to time from DLTK’s Kids

On my wish list are Inchimals, Zingo, Orchard and others.  There are also lots of cool card cames for this age group.  Basically anything that involves taking turns, matching, sorting, problem solving, counting, number recognition, etc. etc. is fair game.

I don’t know if you have a teachers supply store in your area, but I get a lot of good ideas from them.

    Thanks Tukata!

I just wanted to say that I made a few changes to the schedule and the updated version is here on my blog:  http://theattachedmama.blogspot.com/2011/02/charlotte-mason-pre-school-schedule.html

(Just in case someone is searching for an example “schedule” in the future.)

    I think it looks lovely!

We don’t have rigid days either, but to just have a schedule there is a relief on those really hectic days.
