This year we will be finishing up Modern Times history.  Since I don’t expect it to take the full year, I’d like to add an American Government read-aloud.  I am looking for something appropriate for kids around middle school age.  (My kids range in age from 7 to 14).

I looked at a sample of Uncle Sam and You from the Notgrass web site, but it reads very textbook-y.  Any suggestions for a book that is more alive and enjoyable?

    Thanks!

We read Profiles in Courage when I took government in high school.  It’s been awhile since I read it, but it is a classic for middle grades and up.

My daughter and I read through a free online book covering the election process. It is geared towards elementary age through middle school I would say. We both enjoyed it. I have it linked somewhere here on the forum. I’ll see if I can find it for you. A homeschool dad wrote it.
