HI Everyone….
My eldest (of 6) daughters is in 7th. I bought Jump-In and have let her do it independently. I am trying to concentrate on the other 3 doing school and the baby and the 4 year old. I’ve not checked in that much on my DD and her Jump-In progress. I know this is an INDEPENDENT subject, but I think I’ve made it too independent?
Can anyone describe the way you involved yourself with this program? I am NOT feeling up to grading her work. I really have a hard time critiquing whether a sentence should be moved and why, or if there are too many thoughts are in a paragraph, or if things aren’t connected. I mean, I can maybe see there is something wrong, but am not sure enough myself to correct her and give explanation.
BUT I will tell you, this being our second year doing all SCM, she writes in the CM style and I am all giggles when her writing reads like “Stories of the Nations” (My dear readers…..ect).
ClaireParticipantI’m sorry I don’t have any experience with the Jump In program for composition. Here’s an idea … I have been thinking lately of starting a small composition circle in order to have the children offer one another feedback and critique on their compositions. I think sometimes peer evaluation is a valuable tool.
petitemomParticipantI look over quickly to see that he has done the work and correct if it needs to be. I guess certain things she could correct herself if you want to give her the teacher manual but as far as the writing I think it is good to go over.
Just this last week my son was writing a negative blurb but didn’t understand what it was so if I didn’t look it over and explain to him he would not have learned.
I know it can be a lot w/all the other kids, you do what you can…
