I would like to find a service that offers family movies & shows, documentaries, movies/shows for science and history lessons, etc that we can just watch over the computer.

I know some use Netflix but are their any other resources that allow you to watch over the computer without actually receiving the dvd’s?    We travel alot and I can’t have the dvd’s coming to the house as I wouldn’t be able to return them for months.

    thanks,

We use Netflix.  We have the cheapest plan for streaming which is $8.99 a month unlimited streaming and one DVD at a time.  We rarely even use the DVD option; in fact, I kept Little Women for a good 4 months without returning it.  There isn’t an option for streaming without at least 1 DVD, but you don’t have to use it.  I just find a great movie that I want to watch and keep it for the times I can sit down by myself.  It’s really a nice feature since there aren’t any late fees.

There are other sites out there; but, like You Tube, there might be questionable material and/or words that are on the welcome screen.  We have searched at http://www.hulu.com before, but I prefer just to stream documentaries and movies approved by us from Netflix since they have so many of them.  We don’t have cable or even reception for a television, so this is what we use in place of a standard TV.  The Wonders of God’s Creation is waiting to be shipped, but I have to remember to return Little House on the Prairie first.  Wink

I know you’re wanting a service, but you could always see if your library would loan them to you for an extended period of time. Our library is so familiar with me that they will allow me to renew books and DVDs over the phone. That might be a good option for you since you’re so frequently out of town.
