My ds (13) is just about to finish up this book and I’m on the hunt for something else. The curriculum guide suggests Thoughts for Young Men and I think that would be great but may not last a whole school year. I also have Making Brothers and Sisters Best Friends, but I had hoped to read this to all my dc and not have him read it to himself (he may not want to anyhow, not sure).

He has a couple of Lamplighter books that he likes but is looking for more of a devotional type book not a book, book. He has covered 2 other devo books already and seems to really enjoy this part of his day, so I just want to have another book ready even after I purchase Thoughts for Young Men.

BTW, Boyhood and Beyond had such an affect on him and really caused him to think. Last school year he said he wasn’t quite ready for it but this year he wanted to give it a try (I think the cover’s “mature” look made him think it was more for men or something). There were times I could tell he was struggling with something (whether to do something or not) and at one time he even mentioned how he didn’t want to be slothful, but industrious (I guess a ch. in the book covered these). He told me one day that every decision he makes now is creating the man he wants to be (or doesn’t want to be). Anyhow, this book was really good for him so I’m looking for something similar that I can give to him to read during his own personal time.

    TIA

Has he already read Bob Schultz’s other two books, Created for Work and Practical Happiness?

No, he hasn’t, and I knew Bob Schultz had other books but I totally forgot…thank you. I think I had looked at them but that was a year ago. He will love those.

    Thanks again.
