    Hello!

We will be starting our official 3rd year of homeschooling this fall.  I have been reading Charlotte Mason’s Original series (the modern paraphrase version) at amblesideonline.  I am learning SO much!  I cannot believe the wisdom she had without ever having children of her own.  I am extra blessed by her Biblical insight into the little details of children and parents.  I urge you to read the series yourself.  I think SCM is a treasure chest of CM ideas, materials, and information, but if you are interested in truly giving your children a CM education, Charlotte Mason’s writings are a MUST READ!!  I hope I won’t be discredited for preferring the Modern Paraphrase.  I’m hoping to read through Volume 2 and 3 before starting back to school and felt the Modern Paraphrase would be a quicker read but still provide the rich information I was seeking!

    Happy Homeschooling!!!

I heartily agree!  I know it seems intimidating, those six volumes–and there is a place for the books ABOUT Charlotte Mason’s method, but there’s nothing quite like reading Charlotte’s original words and thoughts.

So, can I get the “paraphrase” on my Kindle? I tried to look in the past, but I couldn’t figure it out. If I could I know I would read them!

Hi Jawgee!  I am no techie, but if you can access the internet with your Kindle, I’m sure you could read them from it.  I read some from my phone while we were on the road this past weekend.  (My husband was driving, not me!)  I don’t think we are allowed to link directly to pages on ambleside, but if you look up http://www.amblesideonline.com  then click on “Charlotte Mason Series,” there are several options to read online.  I’m thankful for this resource and will probably go back and read the original at a later date!

Oh, good idea. Thanks, I’ll try that.
