I’ve had this complete set for several years, but haven’t used it. Any opinions on it? How does it compare to the Famous Men series? You can see details at Valerie’s Living Books.

I confess I’ve not even read them.

I’m trying to decide what I want to keep & use and what to purge.

    Thanks,

    Christie

I’ve heard good things about it but have never seen them.  I know there has been discussion about them here at the forum so you might want to do a check.

If you ever DO want to get rid of them, I’d be happy to buy them from you!!!!!

They are wonderrful!  I have the complete set in my lending library.  You do have to overlook some evolution at the beginning, which is true with most.  Jan Bloom says this is one of the best sets available in her opinion.  Very well-written and interesting.

Agree–of all the ones I’ve seen like these, Hillyer, CHOW, etc., these are my favorites.  That said, I don’t use my set much.

How would you use them – in place of the Famous Men series or in addition to? What ages are they best for? I find the look of them on my shelf lovely, but the thought of using them overwhelming. I’m using the SCM modules as our framework & love the handbooks, but dd9 & ds6 aren’t crazy about  Famous Men series though they the other books in module 4.

    As a reminder, my kids are young – 9, 6, 3, 9m.

    Thanks,
