I am trying to figure out how to do science in the 8th grade.  Do I have her read the material and give me an oral or written narration?  She is having a hard time understanding and has little interest in Apologia Physical Science. She has an interest in learning about herbs and medicinal plants but I’m not sure how to make it a science curriculum.

What about Apologia botany (I think Sabbath Mood Homeschool has a botany course as well) combined with a book on medicinal herbs?

You might look at a membership to Herb Mentor.  (Herbmentor dot learningherbs dot com).  I have this same interest and have learned an incredible amount from this site, which offers videos, tons of reading material, video courses (including one on botany), culinary herbal recipes, how-to videos…it’s just a wealth of knowledge!

Thank you for your suggestions!  At this point in the school year I decided to have her read some books on her own and then help me teach the younger children their science.  I also found some free science unit studies I am about to try out from The Good and the Beautiful that are for K-8.
