New Old Testament and Middle East Resources

History and geography books

Did you know that Samson was born just 30 years after the Trojan War? Or that Malachi was prophesying in Israel at the same time Socrates was teaching in Greece?

Those are just some of the fascinating mental connections that you discover when you study Bible history alongside world history. Those are the relations that make history come alive!

Our new lesson plans, Joshua through Malachi and Ancient Greece, 2nd edition, will walk your whole family through a year of just such a study—reading and narrating, learning and making personal connections between the events of the Old Testament and the history of Ancient Greece. Add our exciting new geography notebook, Visits to the Middle East, and you have the makings for a wonderful year of learning ahead!

Joshua through Malachi & Ancient Greece, 2nd Edition

With Joshua through Malachi & Ancient Greece, 2nd Edition, your whole family can share in the discoveries. The newly revised lesson plans feature interesting family read-alouds, wonderful additional grade-level living books, Scripture readings, review and introductory prompts, narration prompts, artifact tie-ins, additional assignments for older students, geography exercises, Book of Centuries entries, end-of-term exam questions, suggestions for calculating high school credit, and more!

This revised Second Edition replaces the Oxford book that is now out of print and incorporates some great suggestions from our readers. It features The Story of the Greeks as the main family read-aloud, adds The Stuff They Left Behind: From the Days of Ancient Greece portfolio, and incorporates Visits to the Middle East geography notebooks. But don’t worry, the older First Edition will still be available as an electronic download for those who want to use it.

Visits to the Middle East

The second in our new series of geography notebooks, Visits to the Middle East is your guide to exploring that region of the world through maps and living books. It makes a great tie-in to the Joshua through Malachi study, because most of the events of the Old Testament occurred in the Middle East.

The Visits to . . . series collects short map drills, guided reading from two fascinating travelogues, leading narration and discussion questions, meaningful map studies, and lots of ideas for additional living books and activities in a handy spiral notebook for each student.

  1. Will you have these at the Jacksonville conference in August? Will prices be similar? Just wondering how to plan my budget. We have started “Genesis through Deuteronomy” and looking to get the next set ahead, while the prices are lower.
Thank you and see you in August!

    • Yes, we will have these and most of our other resources in Jacksonville. Our conference prices are discounted a bit from what you see on the website, other than introductory prices, which are about the same.
