New Charlotte Mason Homeschool Conference: Preschool through High School

Sonya Shafer speaking

We are delighted to present a brand new Charlotte Mason homeschool conference coming this summer: Preschool through High School the Charlotte Mason Way!

This two-day event, hosted by River City Homeschool Adventures, will be held in Jacksonville, Florida, on Friday and Saturday, August 2–3, 2013.

You will enjoy getting to know other homeschoolers who love the Charlotte Mason approach, learning from each other and forming new friendships. And the practical sessions with Sonya will encourage and equip you to confidently homeschool your children from preschool through high school using Charlotte’s wonderful methods.

Preschool, CM Methods, and Habits

Friday morning will begin with a session on preschool and kindergarten-age children that will help you understand and implement Charlotte’s ideal for the Early Years. You will receive encouragement to give your little ones a full six years of a quiet growing time, as well as practical tips for developing good habits, getting acquainted with nature, exploring with the five senses, and growing in their spiritual lives. We will also demonstrate and discuss Charlotte’s gentle and effective way to teach reading.

The afternoon will be devoted to exploring Charlotte’s delight-filled methods for school-age children. Special focus will be given to selecting living books and the how-to’s of narration. Plus, you will learn which methods to use to teach each school subject.

Friday night at 7:00 will be a special presentation of our popular “Laying Down the Rails: The Power of Good Habits in Your Home School” workshop. This session is included free with any registration. Plus, spouses and friends are welcome to attend this session free with you to discover the secret to smooth and easy days!

Planning, Scheduling, and High School

Saturday will be dedicated to helping you see what the Charlotte Mason method might look like in your home school. You will experience a CM-style morning of studies, then after lunch we will take what you have learned and discuss practical tips for planning and scheduling, helping you put it all together for your family.

To wrap up our days together, we will have a session on navigating the high school years. Teaching high school the Charlotte Mason way isn’t that difficult! You will discover what stays the same, what changes, and how to manage grades and calculate credits for a transcript. Lots of helpful guidelines, practical tips, and encouraging ideas to help you confidently homeschool through high school.
