We’ve had a lot of new sign-ups to the e-mail list lately. Welcome to all of you!

Our regular readers know that we try to keep a good balance between teaching posts and site announcements. Today, we’re excited to let you know about a new book we have available. And next week we will have a post on ideas for finding living books.

Many of you have told us how much you’ve enjoyed using our family study handbook on creation, 106 Days of Creation Studies. We’re pleased any time we can suggest ways for you to teach all your children together. It saves so much time, encourages family unity, and promotes the one-room schoolhouse effect.

And now you can teach Ancient Egypt that way too. Our new family study handbook, Genesis through Deuteronomy & Ancient Egypt, uses the same helpful format. It details how you can teach all your students, grades 1-12, the same history time period with an emphasis on how Bible events fit into world history events. The lesson plans include living book suggestions, Scripture passages, narration ideas, Book of Centuries entries, geography map drill, additional assignments for the older children, and optional hands-on activities.

Those of you who have been looking at the History/Geography/ Bible modules of our SCM Curriculum Guide and wondering how all the books fit together and which Bible passages to read, this book is for you. It gives daily lesson plans for module 2, Genesis through Deuteronomy and Ancient Egypt.

It’s available in both e-book and printed book formats. Download the free sample and take a look.

  1. I am very excited about this. We have gotten 1/2 way through Module 2, but I bought the book anyway. I can’t wait to start it in August. Are you planning to write lesson plans for the other Modules? I would definitely be interested in them.

    • I’m so glad these family study handbooks are helpful! Yes, the plan is to write daily lessons for each of the six History/Geography/Bible modules. My goal is to finish one every year. Next summer, Lord willing, Module 3: Joshua through Malachi.

  2. I recently purchased this and am SO EXCITED to use it! I am actually doing a world history overview this year (I already purchased everything) and am going to do Module 6 covering US history next year. The following year we will start in order doing the Modules. I can’t wait to see more of these family study guides. They are wonderful! Thanks!
