2016–17 Calendar Journal: Laying Down the Rails for Yourself

Laying Down the Rails for Yourself Calendar Journal

Sometimes I read a book that grips my heart and challenges me to change. As I’m reading I think, Oh, this makes so much sense; I’ll always remember what it says. And for a little while I recall poignant passages and mull over meaningful phrases from the book in my mind.

But then I read a stack of other books and receive a few hundred e-mails and engage in countless discussions . . . and after a few weeks the life-changing points that I wanted to hang onto have been crowded out of my mind.

Our new calendar journal features excerpts from Laying Down the Rails for Yourself, so you will have timely reminders of key ideas from that book all year round.

Forming good habits is a long-term project. It helps to have regular encouragement along the way.

The Laying Down the Rails for Yourself Calendar Journal is designed to keep you focused on laying down good habits in your own life—habits that will

  • make your days run smoother and easier,
  • enable you to do things you never thought you could,
  • help you overcome your natural tendencies,
  • strengthen your will power,
  • and shape and mold who you are becoming.

Our popular calendar journal also provides weekly Charlotte Mason quotations to keep you inspired and plenty of room to write personal notes. Use the monthly calendars and spacious two-page spreads each week to create a record of your progress. Keep track of which habit you’re working on, what triggers you’re using, how often you make the right choice, and any reinforcing ideas you come across. Set your goals, highlight the positive results you see, and celebrate your progress!

It is never too late to cultivate good habits in your life! The new calendar journal is here to help you lay down those rails for yourself!

Laying Down the Rails for Yourself Calendar Journal is now available in a 2016–17 school-year edition that goes from July 2016 through June 2017.

A 2017 calendar-year edition will be available later this year.

  1. I’m wondering if Sonya will be incorporating Laying Down the Rails for Yourself in any of her workshops at the Teach Them Diligently Conventions this year. I’ll be at one of them.

    • Yes, the new workshop “Habit-Training Yourself: Good Habits Are Not Just for Kids” is on some of the material in Laying Down the Rails for Yourself.

  2. Is this the kind of planner that could be used to plan out homeschool lessons? Or would I need another planner for that? Just wondering what most people would write in this one, thank you!

    • It’s not really designed for lesson planning, Janice. It’s more for your personal use, for journaling about your year. You can use it to keep track of what books you are reading for your own growth; guests you have served in your home; your prayer requests; what you’re thankful for each day. If you are working on new habits for yourself, you could use it to keep track of which habit you’re working on, what triggers you’re using, how often you make the right choice, and any reinforcing ideas you come across. Some people like to use it to keep track of appointments and weekly commitments, with space for comments and processing notes.

For planning homeschool lessons, we have our online CM Organizer.
