I am looking for living, biographical introductions to various hymn writers. My idea is to use them to introduce children in our girl's club at church to godly role models. Reading a whole book on a person would be great, but I only have a few minutes each week for this purpose. My thought was a short bit about the writer one week followed by several weeks of singing songs by that writer. The only short hymn sories I have found are extremely dry and factual. Does anyone have recommendations for such material, or other ideas? I am only a small part of a club night, but I am always looking for ways to insert CM ideas, um, pretty much anywhere and everywhere I go. I do not have children of my own, yet have worked with students, watching the CM methods breathe life back into their education and childhood!

Nethymnal.org has some VERY short ones. Not sure if it's what you're looking for or not, though.

We are just starting to use this: http://www.amazon.com/Hymns-Kids-Heart-Vol-1/dp/1581345054. It has a dz. hymns, ea. with a short intro. (few min. to read) and comes with a cd. Bio's. include: Reginald Weber, Martin Luther, Maltie Babcock, Charles Wesley, John Rippon, John Newton, Edward Plumtre, Isaac Watts, and others. There's also a short message from the authors about each hymn, relating it to their life. HTH some:) Gina
