There are currently two copies of that "hard -to-find-at-a-good-price" book on Amazon. I just bought one copy and there are two used ones left. Grab them while they are available.

There are also new ones on the Oxford site available right now for $17.50 (about $25-$26 after shipping/tax).

Isn't that funny, I've never thought to look on their site! Still, I got a great deal on a used copy of Oxford Children's Ancient History, so I'm a happy camper.

It's possible that it's the same type of thing that was happening in this thread on the Oxford site:
But the price change makes me wonder...

Hi Sue,
I would like to know where did you get your Oxford Children's Ancient History. I would like this one instead of Fist Ancient History for my children. Thanks.

Actually, I just bought mine yesterday from someone I pm'd on the SCM forum!

Can you tell me what is the difference between children's ancient history and the first ancient history? Thanks!

The only differences I've seen are the British spellings in the Children's. Otherwise, it aligns just the same.

This is what an SCM forum member had to say about the differences between the two in an earlier thread:
Well I now have both books and I just flipped through them. They are EXACTLY the same with pictures and text except for the Children's Ancient History has one extra page in Chapter 1. Everything else is exactly the same.
I know it is hard to tell from the Amazon preview. So if you come across the Oxford Children's Ancient History, it is just like the other.

Oxford says that they don't have the book, so ignore my link above. Go with Amazon or somewhere else.

I got the Childre's one on Amazon a couple months ago for like $10 after shipping. Then a few days later all of them on there were like $100!!! I don't understand that. It does look like that Oxford site posted does have them in stock. You can add it to your cart.

I called Oxford USA and they don't have any as they're out of print. She said you can put it in your cart and give your cc information, etc. but the transaction won't go through. I eventually got a cancelation email. :( I did just find on one Amazon for under $50 with shipping. Painful but I figure that I'll use it over a few years with my oldest of four being 8. Good luck!

I find that whole issue with Oxford's site and this book to be rather annoying. I don't understand why they aren't able to simply place the statement "out of stock" next to the book information. Walmart does that all the time....of course, I don't know how simple it is for them to manage things like that on their website. But, it has to be a hassle to have to deal with those canceled transactions and the resulting emails to customer service.
