I read Outcast by Rosemary Sutcliff before The Eagle of the Ninth because your website said it was the prequel. It was a good book but now I'm finding that no other websites say that it is a prequel. I haven't yet read The Eagle of the Ninth. I'm wondering why you alone call it a prequel?

Hi, Sue. Years ago when I read it, I wrote "prequel to Eagle of the Ninth" inside the front cover. Then when I was adding books to the CM Bookfinder I saw that note and thought it might be helpful. But after reading your question and going back to find the answer, I find instead that I used the wrong wording. It is a prequel only in the sense that its story takes place chronologically before Eagle of the Ninth. The two plots are not related. Evidently I wanted to remind myself that its story comes first, but used the wrong term in my note to self.
Thanks so much for asking. Now I can correct that phrasing!
