Just wondering if you order regularly from Vitacost and what types of things you order. So far, I am seeing that I can get our stevia and extra virgin coconut oil from Vitacost for less than Azure Standard and Amazon.

Also, their website keeps going dim on me and then I can’t click on anything. Anyone else have that issue?

    Thanks,

    Lindsey

Vitacost is great. I’ve been ordering for years. I’ve never had a website issue.

    Stuff I buy:

Nordic Naturals fish oil for us and kids

    Metagenics multi w/o iron

Org cornstarch to make my deodorant

Varied probiotics….they usually ship in ice pack

    Carlsons Vit D3

Shampoos and conditioners,..but I think u make your own?

    BWC facial moisturizer

    Aubrey hairspray

Herbatint hair color (you now know my secret;)

That’s the main stuff. Oh, I’ve bought Spry gum and mints(xylitol). And a bag of xylitol(Xylosweet). Shipment has always been prompt and I always have $49 plus to qualify for free shipping. Best wishes! Gina

Oh, and if you don’t happen to have a friend referring you I’d be happy to and we’d both get $10 off(if you were comfortable sharing I think e-mail address?) I forget. But don’t worry about it…just thought I’d mention;)

    Gina,

I already did the “refer a friend” thing. We’ll see if any of my friends sign up, because I’d really like the $10! I did get my hubby to sign up. 😉

I haven’t been making my own shampoo lately. I buy the Organix brand coconut milk shampoo/conditioner. I’m kinda at the point that I don’t care because I have so many other things on my plate. I’m glad to know they have Spry. That’s the only kind of gum I let my kids have!

My dad orders a lot from them, and I often add my order of dishwasher detergent on his orders (we live in Canada, and ship to an American address, so we combine orders as much as possible). I get Ecover, and it’s about a quarter of the cost there than in stores by me.

I order on Vitacost a lot. They have great customer service. I don’t like to pay for shipping so if I cannot get to 49$ and just need a couple of things I order on iherb.com. Usually Vitacost is cheaper though.

The one company I will never order from is Bulk Apothecary. worst customer service, they won’t take anything open back (and I wonder how else you are suppose to know that something is not good!). Also it looks cheap but once you pay for shipping it is not worth it.

momto2blessing did you ever considere switching to henna instead of herbatint? I beleive the rating on Skin deep (EWG) for herbatint is a 7 or 8. I used to use that, could not be happier w/my mud!!

I also order from vitacost all the time.

Coconut Oil (vitacost brand is great and much cheaper than locally)

    probiotics

    papaya chews

Bob’s Red Mill products are cheaper at vitacost than locally

by times, some of the GF pasta I buy and GF Snider’s pretzels are cheaper at vitacost than locally (but I keep a close eye on that – they aren’t always cheaper)

I’ve always been super happy with their shipping.  I’ve never had to contact customer service.

I ordered some of the Naturatint. I lighten my hair instead of darkening, so henna isnt’ an option for me. I do not look good with dark hair. It’s cheaper than what I pay my stylist to color my hair, and it doesn’t have heavy metals and salon colors do. I’m looking forward to trying it out!

Suit yourself but it is pretty toxic never the less. What you put on your head does end up in your body.

I got a proof of that, one time I mixted beet juice in my Henna and w/out eating or juicing any beets the color came out in the urine.

Henna is not only for dark hair. The Marrocan method company has lighter colors, a friend of mine uses that and has blondish hair.

Lindsey…good luck getting your referral $$. Every bit helps:) Naturtint…is that less toxic than Herbatint? Or did you mean Herbatint?

Petitemom…I should probably check into henna. I’ve heard it’s messy and wasn’t sure if it would come out o.k.

I tried henna when expecting my first child to avoid the toxins – I smelled like horse manure for a week even trying two different brands. It was AWFUL!!! I know the salon stuff is full of toxins, but I still go every 4 weeks. I’m not yet 40 and it may be vain, but I’m not ready to be 100% gray. I keep paying the big bucks every month for my toxic vanity because I’ve never been pleased with any home color I’ve tried.

I will, however, look into vitacost.

Lindsey, can you put a referral link to Vitacost on your blog? (I first found Vitacost from someone’s blog. I have no idea about the particulars of that sort of thing.) I usually get coupon codes from Vitacost by email and that helps. The things we buy are pretty much anything I used to get at the health food store. The toothpaste we use (Natures Gate) is about $3 cheaper from Vitacost.

I too am vain! I don’t color my hair as often, 2 times a year, though I need more! I like to avoid all kinds of toxins everywhere else…but my hair color! I have been growing gray since my early 20’s! Now that I am 45,I have a lot! My dh likes to see gray running through my hair, not me! As a matter of fact, I am going to color tonight! I used to color more often, but thought I would “tough it out” for just twice a year due to the toxins!

Will have to see how others do on Herbatint!

As I look at Vitacost, there are so many things I can get cheaper at my Kroger! It opened 2 yrs ago, and at that time it was THE largest in the southeast!!  Although, some products at Vitacost are not available at my store 🙂 But I was just looking at the products I use. Am I missing something? I have heard such rave reviews of Vitacost!

I buy my Henna from Mehandi.com and it doesn’t really smell. It does have an earthy smell when you have it on but I did it yesterday (I do it once /month) and there is no smell at all now.

I love that stuff, been using Henna for 6 years now. As I am getting more grey I might end up adding Indigo but so far I am happy w/the red!

@2flowerboys: my guess is that it depends on your area.  I sometimes wonder whether Vitacost spies on me because I bought GF pasta at a local chain grocery store, then saw it on Vitacost for the same price or pennies cheaper.  So I ordered it from Vitacost next time I needed help to get free shipping.  Then, I went to order the GF pasta again, and it had gone up in price.  Same happened with Snider’s GF pretzels.

The Vitacost Coconute oil is still cheaper (and cold expeller pressed, all the good stuff) than locally for me.  Same for the probotics I buy.

I’ve actually started keeping a notebook in my purse to jot down prices.  I prefer ordering things online so I can stay home, but have to watch pennies, too!

I order, stevia, hair products, PB flour, walden farms dressings/syrups, vitamins (some), stevia flavored water, .. what else?
