I know this is way off topic but I have some mice that need some food.

My husband brought home some baby mice a few minutes ago. They were in someones vehicle and the mother took off. they were having problems with their vehicle and when they took the vent off. Low and behold teenie, tiny, mice.

My husband thought it would be a great learning lesson for the kids to see if they could raise the orphans.

I don’t do rodants. So, this is a new experiance for us. 🙂  If any of you have any experiance taking care of orphaned mice/ rodants please let me know what we have to do.

       Can they drink milk?

Please let me know if you have any advice…  Their eyes are not open yet so they still are nursing.

Thanks for any advice.  I probably need to feed these little guys quick. 🙂

don’t ask me what we are going to do with them if the live… 🙂

    this is too funny!

I would call a nature center if you have one in your area.

Around here they rescue pretty much all kinds of animals.

I do wonder though if there is not a risk that they would carry deseases?

Sure you don’t want to send them to me?  The snakes would be very happy . . .

I’m wondering if you dh is setting your kids up (probably not intentional) to learn about the cycle of life, so to speak…..

Pet shops sometimes sell milk formulas for baby animals, but I doubt they will have any for mice. 🙂 I have read real life experiences of people feeding orphaned animals with diluted human baby formula, however they were experienced, licensed wildlife rehabilitators who learned what dilution to feed, how often to feed, and how best to feed each animal they cared for through carefully observed trial and error.

Feeding baby animals usually requires special bottle nipples or small eye droppers, lots of patience, and round the clock feedings, which vary according to the animal and its age. Most wild animals are protected by law and you have to be a state licensed rehabilitator to care for them. I don’t think mice fall under that law but you should check your state laws to be sure.

I have taking care of tiny babies way long ago..long story. Not mice..but woodpeckers and opposums  Anyhow, It is a lot of work!! I mean a lot! Feeding w/ droppers at all hrs!

BTW, we have pet rats! They are so cute and fun to play with! So if you keep them, I think the kids will love them!

Good Luck on feeding them though!

LOL…  Linabean,,, I am still trying to learn how to link.. I think I just got it also.. 🙂 Thanks for the cute site! 🙂

@ suzukimom… I agree I think DH was wanting them to see how it all works and if they can do it. 🙂

I agree 2flowerboys I bet it will be a lot of work. I guess it is a good thing they are just little mice and not something larger that we have to rely on for food. 🙂

If it takes a turn for the worst I can either feed them to my chickens or send them to bookworm. 🙂 Tehe he

Blessings! and thank all of you for all your help… 🙂
