I am starting homeschooling with a first grade girl and hoping to include our 4 year old boy as much as possible (and maybe the 2 year old will magically play by himself lol). I am struggling to decide between doing Module 1 with the handbook or just go through Gombrich's A Little History of the World or Hillyer's Child's History of the World with living books and the Bible involved. I like the idea of getting an overall picture of history of the first year but ...not sure!! Any thoughts are most appreciated. Thank you :)

I don't think I'd do Module 1 with a first grader and 4 year old. I vote for something else. They're so young. The mod. 1 books, specifically thinking of the Exodus commentary and Letters from Egypt, are a much higher level. They were really interesting to my kids at 11 and 9. And perhaps you'd enjoy parts of them. But I'd wait if it were me.

I am currently doing Module 1 with a 7, 4 and 2 year old. We just a few weeks in, but so far we are enjoying it. I love reading from the real Bible. We have done the salt dough map of Egypt (actually my husband helped her with it while I went grocery shopping with the 4 and 2 year old ; ) We are just now getting into the Egypt section this week. I don't think I'm really going to like the Oxford Spine, but we have so many other books recommended about Egypt that we will just substitute that in. We are also doing a few chapters of SOTW that correspond with Egypt b/c we had that already. I've also seen some fun hands on projects about Egypt we will add in. SO, in short, we are enjoying it, but have made many modifications to make it suit our needs. I haven't heard of the other program you mentioned.
