DD7 picked up a book called "Alice-Miranda at School" by Jacqueline Harvey at the library. She has never read a chapter book all the way through on her own. I know that some of the language used will be a bit of a challenge for her to read independently, so in that respect it is not simple, but I'm not familiar with this series.
