For an 8 yr. old girl who is just beginning to take off in reading, which recommended resources would you forgo and which would not miss??? I don’t want to over buy and thought that some of you who have done Modules 2-3 might be able to advise. Has anyone else combined these modules into one year? Suggestions and thoughts welcomed.

We are just in the beginning of Module 2, but I have to say that my 8 y/o DD LOVES “Growing Up in Ancient Greece”.  I purchased it in “like new” condition from Amazon, and it came with the other books in the series.  They are very short books, every 2 pages covering something about the culture of the land and time period.  I believe this book is optional, but I highly recommend it!

We combined Modules 1, 2, & 3 this year, and it’s going great.  We do history every day and skip the Bible readings in the guides.  We have an intense Bible program for children at our church (Children Desiring God), and we work on that daily instead.  I also picked one geography (instead of all 3) to do weekly from the guides.  I love all the history recommendations.  Next year we will do only Module 4 since the history is 4 days/week in that module instead of 1 or 2 times a week.

We love growing up in ancient greece too. Did not enjoy Traveller in Rome. Love the Macaley books – its listed as an extra in the links section of module 3.
