Ok so trying to make my life easier I grabbed the local high school registration packet to use simple one paragraph descriptions to make mine. You know look and reword for some of the basic courses like maths, sciences, etc. Then I got to reading and I got confused (should never had read it).
I always went with a typical average 1 credit class would take 160-180 hours. But inside our local high school book they gave full credit for 90 hours in PE. Was my thinking off? I should have just closed the book right! LOL
momto2blessingsParticipantMy oldest isonly 8th, but I thought this was helpful on the HSLDA site: http://www.hslda.org/highschool/docs/EvaluatingCredits.asp. Good luck:)
nebbyParticipantAmbleside also has a nice article on credit hours. A credit hour is often less than an hour, like a 50 minute class. And then you have to consider all the time wasted in public schools. I have seen #s as low as 100 hours of homeschooling equaling a full year HS course. But one can also count finishing a curriculum (like a years math) no matter how many hours it took.

HiddenJewelParticipantWe use a Carnegie unit at 120hours per credit.
MistyParticipantVery interesting and helpful, thanks.
