Happy Friday, everybody. :)
I am wondering what you guys think I should do about some handwriting issues in my house.
We have used Getty-Dubay Italic for years. My oldest was successful with this method. My next two kids (both boys) have not been, and at 12 and almost 10, they still are not fluent writers. I have tried a few other things and nothing has really worked. The 12 yo is dyslexic and is probably dealing with some dysgraphia as well.
So I keep hearing people talk about Peterson Directed Handwriting. They have all these studies to back up their claims that their method is best. But honestly just looking at their website overwhelms me.
I am thinking there must be something more simple, more CM, that would be effective. I understand that Charlotte used copywork for handwriting. Last year I dropped the handwriting books and went to using only copywork. I let them choose the passage and they enjoy that. I have seen a small improvement but they are still a looooong way away from good fluency.
What should I do? Did Charlotte ever have to deal with these types of issues (older kids who still struggle)?
