   So my daughters and I have comandeered my husbands Christmas present from my mom!  We're LOVING his Kindle - lots of free books found for my six year old and I... but my four year old is desperate to read her own books on the Kindle - I found some books today, but they are $.99 each for Bob book types stories, just a few pages and a little too easy for her.   Any suggestions on easy readers for the Kindle??? We'd love them to be free, but I wouldn't mind paying a little for some good ones.  She is reading the First Steps during school so that's the right level, but can't find those books for the Kindle.  Of course she doesn't HAVE to have books on the Kindle, but she's so excited and loved reading the one I bought for her Pink Pig, so it'd be nice to have more so she's not feeling left out.

   I just saw that Hariette Taylor Treadwell's Reading Literature Readers are available in Kindle format on Yesterday's classics. http://www.yesterdaysclassics.com/catalog/catalogkindlebytitle.php  (Scroll down - they are #133-136 on the list).  Not free, but not expensive either!  My DD just finished reading First Steps and is enjoying reading the stories from the Primer Level of these, if you were looking for something else around that reading level.   We don't have a Kindle yet, but with all of you talking them up so well, you've just about sold me on it (which is saying a lot, I LOVE real books made out of paper!) - hoping DH might let me spend our Christmas money on one. =)

   Wow!!  Just that page alone in Yesterday's Classics makes owning a Kindle worth it!  How exciting!  When they say that these books are in Kindle format, does that mean you can adjust the font size?

   The sale was until Dec 24th.... then it was extended until the 31st (for the people that got Kindle's for Christmas...) - so you have today to get them.  (Wish we could...)

   btw - I think the same sale is there for ePub books - which works with other readers like the Nook.... so if you have a different ereader you might still be able to get the sale...

   By the way, the Treadwell readers mentioned are available free.... I've had the Primer and 1st reader for free for a few years.... probably Project Gutenberg, but don't remember where for sure.

    I found some of the specific titles I was looking for, but not in Kindle format.  For instance, I bought the Primer someone recommended GREAT recommendation by the way!!!  And we can enlarge the format so it's very large and easy to distinguish - making it well worth the $1.99 purcahse price - plus it has pictures, whereas the other ones I found were in other formats and I wasn't sure how they would convert onto the Kindle (granted I'm extremely ignorant in how this works yet = definitley a whole new arena for me.)  On the other hand I did search a number of the free sites for a couple of other titles and was unable to find them.  I think I had searched for the Story of the Chosen People by Helene Grueber and I couldn't find that one for free. But again, I'm not a pro at this yet, so... it might be out there.

    I will say that I have not searched for them all but I have been using it as a reading list and all the ones we have looked up so far I found online for free in kindle format including Treadwells Primer with pictures. The ones that cannot be found may add up to more than the asking price I have no idea.

    Perhaps we can make a list of the ones we have found, where we found them and if they have pictures.

    Here they are in PDF format... you can convert it with a program like mobipocket reader, or calibre, or emailing it to the Kindle with convert in the subject - or just read it in pdf format on the Kindle.
