Okay, I am about to place a very large, very painful order. If you had to decide (for now) between Early Years or Laying Down the Rails, which one would you choose???
Doing some shopping! Which one? Early Years or Laying Down the Rails???

ps-I did do a search for these and found them both recommended, sometimes together! Just wanting to get some quick opinions! Thanks!

LDTR covers a broader age range. I still would choose it first, esp if you get the video of Sonya teaching on it. Extremely practical info for basic parenting.

Thanks artcmom! I was wondering whether I should purchase the video along with LDTR!

How old are your kids? If they are all 6 and under, I'd reccommend the Early Years, because it does cover some of the basic habits as well. But if you have a combination of school ages and preschool ages, I'd go with LDTR because as another commenter pointed out, it has application to all ages. If you decide NOT to get the Early Years book right now, you can read kind of a summary of the main ideas in the Early Years blog series right here: http://simplycharlottemason.com/2009/09/28/parents-chief-duty-early-years-homeschooling/.

Thanks so much Jen! My children are 10 on down. I am actually getting BOTH books from Miss Tammy up there! I love this group and all of the sweet, generous mamas here. I hope I get the chance to pay it forward!!

Yay! Enjoy. LDTR is a great reference resource, but the Early Years book was so influential for me (I read it when my oldest dd was 4.5 and I was trying to push her to do 'kindergarten' work she wasn't ready for...) that I love to recommend it to all my friends with little ones. Happy reading to you!
