I am a bit confused and hoping y’all can help. I am planning our curric for first grade next year. Looking at the modules for history, do I just use one module per year? Or part of one module per term? Or go through all 6 modules in a year? (that sounds like too much!)

If I use one module per year then we wouldn’t start American History til 5th grade, and I feel like we should start it earlier.

    What worked for y’all?

(I will search the SCM Blog here soon)

    Hi there,

The modules are meant to be used as a full year course.  So, one mudule per year.  However, if you want, you could start teaching the American history modules as well and just spread them out to cover 4 or 5 years, say, instead of all in one year.  I am Canadian and so I am teaching Canadian studies starting this upcoming school year and I will be spreading it out to cover several years.  I will also be in module 2 in the history rotation as well.  But I, like you, wanted to be studying our country all through their schooling rather than waiting and covering it all in one year.  Does that make sense? I hope I explained myself alright.  My brain is a little mushy today due to moving today.  I’m just taking a little “time-out” on the forum!Embarassed

That makes sense, thank you! I was thinking along those lines. Using the one module per year and just supplementing American History along with it.
