Burgess Books- What about all of the talk of mother nature?

I don’t think my kids have ever been confused by this. In the Animal Book, Old Mother Nature is a character who tells Peter Rabbit and his friends about all the animals. I would be a lot more uncomfortable with substituting God for her. It would make Him a character in the story and that I think is inappropriate. The Animal Book at least never says that Old Mother Nature made or controls the animals. She just seems to know a lot about them. It does not conflict with the idea that God is the Creator in my mind. Another book has a character called Old Mother West Wind who blows around and brings the little winds with her. In both cases, they are just characters made up for the sake of the story in my mind.
