   Hi all,

   We are going to be travelling to Rocky Mtn Natl Park, Yellowstone and Mt Rushmore and I was wondering if you had any book suggestions, stories or factual, involving these places that would appeal to ds (6yo).

   I am sorry to say that I don't have any suggestions specifically for those places, but if he can read on his own, the Pathway Readers (First Steps, Days Go By, and More Days Go By) are great! My ds, also 6, can't seem to put them down even though he's only supposed to read them for school. I always catch him reading during "non-school" times. Sorry I can't give you the answer you asked for, but at least that would give him something to do in the car!

   I'm not sure how many of these would fit a 6yo but here are some titles:

    

   Yellowstone National Park by David Peterson (a New True Book)

   Gutzon Borglum:  Artist and Patriot by Willadene Price (about the life of the sculptor of Mt. Rushmore)

   Story of Mt. Rushmore by Marilyn Prolman (a Cornerstones of Freedom book)

   Our National Monuments by Eleanor Ayer

   Rushmore by Lynn Curlee
