So, we are going through history beginning with creation, and learning to locate countries on a map. But those countries don’t exist any more. Should include modern geography separate from our history studies?

How does this work over a few years? Do elementary school kids understand the changes in maps over 4,000 years? Is it right that they won’t know modern cities until four years into the program?

The SCM History guides – with the geography map drills – recommend doing modern geography.

When we do geography drill, I use modern maps.  However, I try to have time period maps for the areas we are talking about as well – just to see how they have changed.
