Hi all,

Just thought I'd share some fun, free finds I've stumbled across online recently:

Perhaps you've browsed the Handbook of Nature Study blog and found the challenges a little overwhelming, or maybe your kids are still pretty little and need something gentler, or maybe you just have a hard time getting IN to the whole nature study thing (I am all of the above!). You may want to check out the new monthly newsletter she is offering - one of the features is a printable study grid that has 8 super simple nature study ideas related to a theme. Easy peasy! Here is the link to the September one (I think you may have to subscribe to her blog to get them after this month, however.) http://handbookofnaturestudy.blogspot.com/2011/09/handbook-of-nature-study-september.html

Free lesson plans to go along with some of the "Getting to know the world's latest artists" books - I'm planning to use a couple of these ideas this coming year (artist study is also not my thing...): http://www.confessionsofahomeschooler.com/blog/2011/06/worlds-greatest-artists-unit-study.html

And if you like downloading free vintage books, this is a very well organized site - mostly links to Google books and Gutenburg - but organized by topic and age level http://freehomeschoolinglibrar.blogspot.com/

Happy reading, all!
