I have the three zoology books and we really liked Zoo 2 Swimming creatures the best so far. I have heard that Astronomy is easier and very engaging. So far, Zoo 3 does seem a little more technical if you will. Are you on the Apologia yahoo group? There is a book list on there to go along with Zoo 2 for additional reading on sea creatures, the reading level was very mixed.

Could you pick a particular animal or class of animals to study using library books and do a lapbook? A few years ago, after a trip to the zoo, each of my kids picked an animal on http://www.homeschoolshare.com from their free lapbooks and we read the recommended books from the library. dd did giraffes and ds did snakes. I included photos of them by those animals from our zoo trip. Also, what about the Christian Liberty Press Nature Readers?
Which 2 Apologia books have you done? Could you change to a different book for now?

No help here, just joining in the question:) My kids liked the Bird Book a lot, but don't like the Seashore book at all, or the animal book, not sure why.

We have done 2 of the other Apologia books but I am really having a hard time with this one. I really like the creation science in it (ex: mutations and natural selection from a creationists view) but I feel like I'm just stuffing informtion in. I have a 6 and 10 year old. I'd like science to be a little better. They were pretty bored with Burgess' Animal book but they loved the bird book. I have some other animal books thay we've liked... Any ideas on how to spice it up or something else we could do? I looked at Queen's new nature books but I don't like the written reports and research required in them. Those are good things, but not for us at this season.

Thanks for the help.

Polly

P.S. We already tried 106 days of Creation. It wasn't right for us. I need science to be pretty well laid out because I'm learning with them. :-)
