New Free E-book on Habits

Smooth and Easy Days with Charlotte Mason free e-bookIt’s our pleasure to announce a new free e-book on habits, Smooth and Easy Days with Charlotte Mason.

A new year lies before us. Perhaps you have some new goals and commitments with the turning of the calendar page. No doubt many of those goals, if not all, will depend on forming some new habit or breaking some bad habit.

In this season of renewed focus, it helps to remember Charlotte Mason’s counsel on breaking bad habits: “Introduce some new habit as attractive to the child as is the wrong habit you set yourself to cure” (Vol. 2, p. 175). Concentrate on replacing the old habit with a new good habit.

Don’t fixate on the old activity or item that you are trying to get rid of. Instead, focus your gaze (or your child’s gaze) on the shiny new activity or item that you want to engraft into your life. For some reason, this mental shift can make all the difference.

Other very practical tips on habits are included in our new free e-book Smooth and Easy Days with Charlotte Mason. The short, encouraging chapters discuss some very relevant topics:

  • How habits produce character traits,
  • The importance of consistency,
  • Why nagging doesn’t work,
  • What to do about Mom’s bad habits,
  • How to become motivated,
  • Taking habit training one step at a time,
  • And more . . .

The book includes a complete list of the habits Charlotte recommended in her writings, as well as lots of timely quotes.

Download your free copy today. It’s our hope that this little book will encourage you as you work toward smooth and easy days in 2010.
